How To Start creating content consistently on LinkedIn
Start creating content now to protect yourself from AI.
Branding Byte #003:
Today we'll dive into how LinkedIn is no longer the Boring professional network that it was. I'll explain to you why creating content on LinkedIn is imperative and how to start now.
AI will not be stopped and eventually will take on your job, if not, then someone that masters its use will. Creating content is your shield, building an audience, and becoming trusted and credible on one topic will prevent you from being cut out of the tree with no backup plans.
Not only can it be a shield but it's also the new way to do business. Content builds presence, thus helping you get in your audience feed. If you're a brand and you provide a product/service, investing time in content creation is the best way to get leads at a super low cost.
If you're an individual with specific knowledge on a topic or a strong will to learn and share, you can build a profitable business out of it.
Time investment + defined purpose + consistency = Presence.
Unfortunately, only 0.01% of LinkedIn accounts post every week, and the reason is simple:
It's hard to be consistent when you don't see results. Let aside if you have zero knowledge about how people do it.
That's why today I'll share with you how you can start through 3 actionable steps.
Choose your niche
It's a difficult choice to make, but one that will give you the power boost to start your journey. You can experiment and share content about different topics of interest but keep in mind that it cost me 5 months doing this...
If you want to position yourself on Linkedin you need to build trust. Credibility comes from the persistence of information, if every day you write about a different topic(i did) then you're just someone with no expertise that surfs on trends.
However, that's not the only reason that stops you from starting your LinkedIn journey, here are 3 more:
Fear of not getting engagement (likes + comments)
Blanc page syndrome
Lack of discipline
No time
I've experienced all of them, I've been creating content on LinkedIn for the last 9 months, and I know exactly how it feels. Fortunately for you, I've developed a system that allows me to post between 7 and 14 posts per week.
Here's a step-by-step guide to help you start your Journey now.
Step 1: Identify your authentic positioning
You don't need to copy your favorite LinkedIn creator, inspire yourself from their positioning and add your touch.
I know, what's unique about you? That's a real question that I can't answer for you, however, you can start by asking yourself the three following questions:
1) What skills have I developed in the past 3 years?
2) What do I like to learn?
3) What I am good at?
That step is super important because it'll help you open your eyes to any knowledge blindness you may be experiencing.
Here's how I chose Personal Branding/Growth through content:
1) I am a fast learner, I love writing, and I am able to create content consistently.
2) I like helping people and solving problems.
3) I am good at playing long-term games and analyzing people's challenges to come up with solutions.
Get through this process and you'll see by yourself that you have more to share than you think.
Step 2: Follow 20-40 creators from your niche
Now that you have your LinkedIn positioning, you need ideas.
A system that helps you consistently come up with valuable insights for your audience.
You can rely on your brain, on youtube channels, and on books but there's something even more powerful:
Follow creators in your niche.
The reason for that is simple, they've already done the work for you, and reading them will always stimulate your neurons and provide you with amazing things to write about.
No, that's not stealing or copying, stop thinking you need to come up with new ideas. You're not here to reinvent the wheel, go from what already exists and add your touch.
I write about Personal Branding and Growth through content creation, so I am following creators for:
Copywriting
Storytelling
Marketing
Soloprenariat
AI tools
Hooks
Content creation
The reason is that reading their posts instantly provides me with an interesting perspective on something my audience would like to read, I just have to cook it with my style and add my insights.
Bonus: Go in the comment section and take notes of the questions they get asked, it's a good way to identify pain points and write specific posts to address them.
Step 3: Create a system you can follow
You're nearly there, your creator journey is not that hard to start but you need to be consistent and efficient, which is why you have to first write down every idea.
Don't you dare trick yourself into thinking you can wait 2 or 5 minutes, you'll forget about it. It happened to me a dozen times and this was super frustrating.
Here's my system, don't hesitate to inspire yourself and cook it at your sauce:
Monday:
1/ 1H of research on Twitter/books/youtube on one specific topic.
2/ I write a News Letter on that one (45 mins).
3/ I then take 20 minutes to re-read the NL and extract sentences/parts that could become a post/a hook by themselves.
Tuesday:
1/ 2H during which I go through my favorite content creators' Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.
2/ I identify top-performing posts.
3/ I analyze their structure and templatize them.
Wednesday:
1/ 15-30 minutes during which I match my NL parts with the templates.
2/ 1H to write 6-8 posts.
3/ 30 minutes to review the posts.
That's my system, it works like a charm for me but won't necessarily for you so try it out and identify how you can manage to personalize it to yourself!
That's it for today's Branding Byte, I hope you found it useful.
See you next week for another one!
